The Obagi Blue Peel is a relatively mild, well tolerated skin resurfacing procedure that effectively treats a number of skin conditions affecting the face, neck, décolleté, hands, back, arms and legs, such as:
The peel is essentially a low concentration trichloroacetic acid (TCA) chemical peel combined with a special blue base designed to slow TCA penetration. It takes about 20 minutes to perform, depending on the number of layers of solution applied to your skin. You may experience slight burning or tingling the first few minutes after the peel is applied, and a bluish tint will likely remain on your skin for 12-24 hours post-procedure.
Some mild swelling and redness may be visible for a few days after your peel, and light skin peeling should start around day two or three and end within one to two weeks depending on the depth of your Blue Peel. While you are peeling, be sure to avoid sun exposure, and use sun protection to maintain your results.
Dr. Weston may recommend a single Blue Peel or a series of Blue Peels spaced six to eight weeks apart. Obagi skin care products are also commonly recommended for skin care and maintenance after or in between Obagi Blue Peel treatments.
